Course content
This 20-week course is designed for learners who want to become a fully qualified personal trainer.
This is a FREE course for age 16-18 learners as it's completely funded by the government.
Previously students have gone on to start their own business, specialise in niches such as post-natal training or strength & conditioning, and work with professional athletes.
Within this course you will study:

Anatomy, physiology & kinesiology

Concepts and components of fitness

Nutrition, lifestyle & medical factors that affect wellbeing

Assessment of a clients current health and fitness status

Planning and conducting of physical activity sessions

Communication skills to build successful relationships with clients

Legal and professional requirements of being a PT

How to set up & manage a PT business

How to manage, evaluate and improve own performance.

There is also a 1 day workshop included in level 3, to give learners class experience. We invite industry experts to demonstrate their skills and answer any questions learners may have about the industry.

Are there any entry requirements?
To be eligible to join:
- An enthusiastic approach to fitness!
- There is a career call for all learners in order to be accepted onto the course, with limited spaces available.
- You must not be actively enrolled in, or attending, another government funded course.
- You must be living in the UK or EU for 3 years+
How many days a week is the course?
The course is 2 days per week for 20 weeks. This is held on a Monday and Thursday.
How much is the course?
This is fully government funded for ages 16-18, making it completely free to the learner!
Are there any entry requirements?
- Ages 16-18 must have a grade 4 or above in GCSE Maths & English (19+ not required, subject to interview).
- Some experience of gym-based exercises, including free weights, is highly recommended.
- The course requires physical exertion, and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary.
- There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication.
There is a telephone interview for all learners in order to be accepted onto the course, with limited spaces available.
