Course content
Achievement of this qualification allows you to work in a gym setting, build workout plans, train small classes and give you the first step towards building your fitness career. Students then progress onto level 3 to become a fully qualified personal trainer.
This is a FREE course for age 16-18 learners as its completely funded by the government.
Within level 2 you will study:

Anatomy & physiology for exercise

Health & safety in a fitness environment
Professionalism & customer care

Principles of nutrition, lifestyle & fitness training
Planning and delivering fitness sessions

Conducting client consultations & leisure team operations

FAQs
When does the course start?
Course starts on the 14th of September with an induction day on the 3rd of September 2026.
How many days a week is the course?
The course is 2 days per week in person, on a Monday and Thursday. This is from 9:30-4pm.
If you do not have a level 4 (GCSE level) in Maths or English, you must attend an additional day to achieve this level and improve your employability.
Where is the course based?
The course is either held at Reynolds Fitness Spa in Bexley or Dartford.
How much is the course?
This is fully government funded for ages 16-18 (sign up required before your 19th birthday), making it free to the learner.
Are there any entry requirements?
To be eligible to join:
- An enthusiastic approach to fitness!
- There is a career call for all learners in order to be accepted onto the course, with limited spaces available.
- You must not be actively enrolled in, or attending, another government funded course.
- You must be a UK resident for a minimum of 3 years
What are the class sizes?
We keep our class sizes small for a more productive environment.
What qualifications can I achieve on this course?
- Active IQ Level 2 technical occupational entry into personal training
- GSCE level 4 Maths or English, or equivalent, if required
What's my next step?
Upon completion of your level 2 you will continue onto the level 3, after which you will become a fully qualified personal trainer.
