The Waterleaf is a unique destination restaurant in Kent. Themed around locally sourced seasonal produce, health-boosting superfoods and stunning views over the Weald of Kent.

Private bookings and parties are welcome. We can cater for up to 30 in our Waterleaf dining suite, up to 10 at our chefs table or larger parties in the lounge, restaurant and terrace, contact us for more details.

Enjoy an aperitif in the exquisite surroundings of our cosy lounge. Alternatively, you may choose to absorb the beautiful surroundings of our little piece of Kent, ‘The Garden of England’, on our enchanting open-air terrace.

What could be more perfect than to while away the twilight hours on our terrace, whilst dining or simply enjoying a glass of fine wine or champagne.

Where better to complete a perfect Kentish afternoon in the country, than on The Retreat terrace with a traditional or contemporary* afternoon tea.

Delicious delights await you. Choose from a selection of delicate desserts, simple sandwiches served on fresh bread and teas to tempt and treat you.

We offer a traditional English afternoon tea, or you can opt for our contemporary version (*just add Champagne).

Superfoods

POMEGRANATE

Now, this is a superfood in disguise and many if not all of you will have heard of it, probably even eaten it. What you may not have known is it contains no cholesterol or saturated fats as well as being high in vitamin C. They are a good source of B-Complex Groups, Pantothenic acid, folates, pyridoxine and vitamin k. It’s also contains high levels of calcium, copper, potassium and manganese.

CHIA SEED

Ancient food of the Aztecs, highest know vegetarian source of omega 3. It absorbs water allowing you to feel full. High fibre, high protein. These do-it-all superseeds are good for your head with their high content of omega fatty acids that increase healthy brain function, but have also proven to be good for your heart by fighting high cholesterol and heart disease. This is enough to kick start your day and energise your body.

HO SHOU WU

Some (But not all) people that have seen their gray hair return to colour from using this. However there are a whole host of more im- portant health benefits surrounding this incredible tonic herb. Weak painful knees are another sign of kidney deficiency as is lower back pain and low sexual energy. Ho Shou Wu is quite often the answer!

GOJI BERRIES

Perhaps one of the tastiest healthy treats, goji berries are known for their healing strength. The nutrients included in these berries are antioxidants and amino acids, but the real strength lies within their more than 20 vitamins and minerals. These precious nutrients have been used for centuries in Asian cultures to strengthen eyesight, fight against viruses, balance hormones, and even to assist with the longevity of life. Not feeling the best? Sweeten things up with these berries in your smoothie!

MACA

Maca comes from the root of the Maca plant in Peru. Ancient Incan warriors believed it would grant them exceptional abilities in battle. It is abundant in amino acids as well as vitamins B1,B2, C and E. This is going to put lead in your pencil, and get you ready for the daily battles you face! Maca is widely used as a natural Viagra.

SPIRULINA

This Cyanobacterium is awesome, it’s biologically complete, meaning it provides all 8 essential amino acids in their proper ratios. Because of this, they are much easier for the body to digest than meat or soy protein. It’s capable of providing a boost to the immune system, helping to fight infections. If you’ve got a cold, this bad boy is guaranteed to help you beat it!

ACAI

This little berry comes from the Acai Palm, it’s a small dark red berry. It packs both a high level of anti-oxidants and anthocyanin’s (also found in red wine). It’s rich in fatty acids (omega 6 and 9) and calories, gives immediate boost in strength and stamina. Mineral wise, it contains potassium, copper, iron and magnesium. It’ll help you go harder for longer! In the gym of course.

CHLORELLA

This unheard of superfood is a single cell green algae, grown in freshwater. It contains twice as much protein as spinach, thirty eight times the protein of soy beans and fifty five times the protein of rice. It contains B1, B2, folic acid and vitamin C. It’s a lean mean illness fighting machine. Get some of this in your life for a huge boost to your immune system!

HEMP

At times it can be difficult to receive the proper amounts of protein, Hemp powder makes it a little easier boasting a whopping 50% protein content and much higher levels of fiber than soy-based pro- tein powder. Athletes can also turn to this superfood for its ability to repair muscles.
