What I did next – Dean Burne

When I left Reynolds Performing Arts I toured with the dance pop troupe Dreamkids which lead on to the nationwide tour of All That Jazz which I was in for a year both dancing and singing.

I also took training in circus skills and did some backstage work from crew to stage manager and crew boss for different shows.

I was Fimbo in the UK tour of Fimbles Live which led to me receiving animatronics training for the BBC to do the CBeebies Live arena show 2006/7.

Since then I’ve done a great mix of both backstage and performing work. I worked up to Tent Master in the circus whilst still performing as ring master and acting in the clown routines. I have also started working my way up in the back stage world. I was crew boss and in charge of rigging for LazyTown Live and stage manager on Milkshake Live with Channel 5.
I’ve been lucky to find that there are not many people who are able or willing to do a mixture of both onstage and back stage work. I got Brainiac Live with Sky 1 where I was stage manager but also performed a leading role of Brainiac Dave.

Last Christmas I was back with the BBC but this time on stage – stilt walking. I performed as the front end of a two manned giraffe on 3 ft stilts which was quite scary but very exciting. There was also a UK arena tour appearing at London’s Wembley Arena a few days before Christmas 2008.

For 2009 I have offers from:
Milkshake Live – Channel 5 (stage management)
LazyTown Live- LazyTown Ents (Foy Flyman, Crew Boss)
Brainiac Live- Sky 1 (Stage Management, Brainiac Dave)
Tweenies live –BBC (offer pending)
