“What a great month June was for me! After training hard for the first half or the year the results are showing!!

On the 21st June I took part in the London to Brighton bike ride, which for those of you that don’t know is a 54 mile ride organised by The British Heart Foundation. I have participated in this event for the past three years and decided that this was going to be my last. With that thought in my mind alongside how competitive I am, I set myself the challenge of wanting to be the first woman to finish. The ride took me 2hrs 58mins and I achieved my goal; being told I was the first woman to finish was a great feeling.

On 27th June I took part in my first sprint distance Triathlon; this included a 750m open water swim, a 20k bike ride followed by a 5k run. As this was my first time in this sporting event I didn’t expect much and I only entered as a warm up for the big one in August. I completed the race in 1hr 23 mins, I was the 5th female to finish, 113th overall position out of 287, but more importantly, 1st in my age group (which is not so young anymore)!! To say I’m over the moon is an understatement-my plaque has pride of place in my front room.

I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive “thank-you” to Lindy who has pushed me to my limit and has given me lots of advice and encouragement along the way. Also to all my fellow Reynolds friends for all your best wishes-you guys are with me all the time!!!!

Let’s see what happens in August; the London Triathlon is an Olympic distance, double what I’ve just competed in, so fingers crossed!!!!!”
