Ballet

Ballet

From 3 years up

Classical ballet is the foundation of all dance styles. Children and students are encouraged to acquire a sound basic technique combined with an understanding of co-ordination and musical interpretation which are the essentials of a pure classical training. Numerous outstanding teachers, and classical dancers in major international ballet companies, have been wholly trained within the Imperial Classical Ballet syllabi.

  • Baby Ballet 3-4 years
  • Pre-school Ballet 4-5 years
  • Primary Ballet 6-7 years
  • Grade 1 Ballet 7-8 years
  • Grade 2 Ballet 9 years
  • Grade 3 Ballet 10 up
  • Grade 4 Ballet must have taken exams to attend this standard
  • Grade 5 Ballet must have taken exams to attend this standard
  • Intermediate Ballet must have taken exams to attend this standard

From grade 4 it is advised that you participate in two ballet classes per
week to reach the required standard and strength for examinations.

Modern

From 4 years up

Modern

Modern Theatre Dance defies a single permanent definition. This is largely due to its ability to adapt, develop and evolve with the changing fashion in dance. Through a carefully planned and well established examination syllabus, which combines modern dance, jazz and other more funky dance styles, young people are trained to become disciplined and versatile dancers who have a professional attitude towards dance.

  • Grade 4 11 years up

Tap

From 4 years up

Tap

Apart from being an essential skill for the professional dancer, tap dance is one of the most enjoyable and rhythmic forms of recreational dance. The syllabi have been carefully developed in order to provide a fully comprehensive training both for children and young adults who wish to dance for pleasure and for those interested in a professional training and, therefore, wishing to study for the major Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced 1 and Advanced 2 examinations.

Jazz

From 4 years up

Jazz

Funky style that adapts to trends within the commercial dance and music field. If you want an idea of the type of moves, watch Top of the Pops or recent pop videos.

Junior Jazz 4yrs+

Theatre School

Younger: 6 to 9 years

Middle: 10 to 12 years

Senior: 12 years plus

A combination of all the Performing Arts split into three one hour sessions on a Saturday afternoon. Now our students are a little older, they will study an hour each of drama, jazz and singing. Theatre School is purely production orientated with shows being staged regularly throughout the year. You will find the children increase in confidence and ability in all areas of the Performing Arts, whilst making new friends and having fantastic fun.

Performance Stage Skills

Prep School

From 11 years up (by Invite and audition only, must have attained grade three in Ballet, Tap and Modern) Performance Stage Skills is for the more serious dancer who is considering a career in the Performing Arts, with teachers hot off the press from the West End.This course gives students the perfect opportunity to gain the technical skills and invaluable knowledge needed to gain entry to college and a professional career. Due to the high standard required this course is only available to students that show potential, enthusiasm, commitment and of course talent in all dance fields. Students are often invited to perform in other shows and college events throughout the year.

Classes

Students must attend: One Ballet, modern and tap class per week.
Performance Stage Skills session: 45 minutes each, of singing, musical theatre, and jazz
