A
well-trained dancer requires a high
degree of co-ordination and a facility
for analysing movement.
Ballet is the foundation of all dance
disciplines. It develops an
understanding of stance, line,
placement, use of floor and turnout
and, to avoid injury, spatial awareness
and individual physicality.
Jazz develops flexibility and strength
to help dancers perform with energy,
speed, stamina, co-ordination and
control.
Tap is the earliest of the jazz
techniques and is uniquely helpful in
teaching analysis of phrasing, with its
emphasis on rhythm and syncopation.
It is extremely popular with audiences
and is enjoying a welcome revival in
musical theatre.
Additional classes such as street jazz,
song and dance, acrobatics,
contemporary and pas de deux add to
the dancer’s essential skills and
technique.
